Information we collect

• The email address you provide when you subscribe.
• Information you choose to send us, such as a reply, a survey response, or a message.
• Email engagement information, including whether an edition was opened and which links were followed.
• Technical information when you visit this site, which may include IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and referring page.

How we use it

To deliver the newsletter; to understand what readers engage with; to measure and report aggregate performance to sponsors; to operate and improve the newsletter and this site; to comply with legal obligations; and to detect or prevent fraud, abuse, and technical problems.

Service providers

We use third-party services to operate. These currently include our email service provider, Drip, which stores the subscriber list and sends the newsletter on our behalf, and may include hosting, analytics, and deliverability services such as Google Postmaster Tools. Our providers may change over time. They process information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

Sponsors and advertisers

We do not sell, rent, or trade the subscriber list. Sponsors receive aggregate performance reporting — how many people an edition reached and how many clicked. Where a placement invites you to submit information directly to a sponsor, such as a signup or entry form, you will see whose form it is before you complete it, and that sponsor’s own privacy policy will govern what they do with it.

Tracking in the emails

Editions contain a small image that loads when the email is displayed, and links are routed through a redirect, so that opens and clicks can be measured. Blocking remote images in your email client prevents the first. Some mail applications load that image automatically whether or not anyone read the message, so open figures are an estimate rather than a headcount.

Cookies and site analytics

We may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on this site, and we may use third-party analytics services, including Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used. These services may collect information such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed, and may set their own cookies. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. To stop automated signups, our subscribe form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a real browser. Turnstile receives your IP address and browser information for that check and does not set advertising cookies.

When we may disclose information

We may disclose information where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, or other legal process; to enforce our terms or agreements; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Legit Football, our readers, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of all or part of our business, in which case subscriber information may be among the assets transferred.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Retention

We keep your email address while you are subscribed and for a period afterwards consistent with our operational and legal needs. Records of unsubscribe requests are retained so that we can continue to honour them.

Your choices

Every edition includes an unsubscribe link, which takes effect promptly. You may also contact us to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to request its deletion, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children

Legit Football is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Readers outside the United States

Legit Football operates in the United States, and information we collect is processed here. If you access the newsletter or this site from outside the United States, you consent to that processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is posted on this page with the date it took effect. Continued subscription or continued use of this site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.
