McKinney has been a highly productive player and team leader for the Alabama Crimson Tide over the past two seasons. While he doesn't necessarily stand out on tape - he seems to be involved one way or another on almost every play. In 2019 he lined up all over the field and earned 3rd Team All American honors.

Scouting Report

vs. LSU 2019

  • pre-snap communication leader
  • nice stop on Edwards-Helaire towards end of first
  • but bad open field miss on Jefferson in early 2nd
  • played a lot out of the LB spot
  • very effective at blitzing
  • active player - true sideline to sideline - good range
  • strong effort
  • mixed bag as a tackler - some nice stops but also some misses
  • overall was productive but this was not IMPACT player type tape

vs. Arkansas 2019

  • plays with spirit/energy coaches look for
  • physically could pass for a CB
  • not afraid to get uniform dirty
  • like LSU game, was active and productive but did not appear to be a game changing IMPACT player

Best Team Fits

  • Chicago Bears: the Bears have an opening at safety, if they select McKinney they'd have a Crimson Tide duo (Eddie Jones) at the position.
  • Atlanta Falcons: McKinney would be a nice addition for an Atlanta team in desperate need of secondary help.
  • Los Angeles Rams: with Eric Weddle out of the picture, the Rams are likely to consider McKinney as a possible replacement.
