Details: The Raiders are sending a 2023 sixth-round pick to the Patriots for Stidham and a 2023 seventh-round pick.

Profile: Stidham, who the Patriots took in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, has yet to start a regular-season game. In eight reserve appearances, he has completed 50% of his passes for 256 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.

Reunited: The trade reunites Stidham with Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, who served as his offensive coordinator in New England for the past three seasons.

Fit: Stidham will compete with Nick Mullens for the right to back up Derek Carr. While Mullens is more accomplished and experienced, Stidham’s background with McDaniels could have him a leg up in the competition.

Impact in NE: The Patriots will move forward with Brian Hoyer and rookie fourth-rounder Bailey Zappe as backups to Mac Jones.
