Montgomery: Montgomery, who signed with the Lions in March, left practice early after injuring his leg. The 25-year-old walked off the field with a trainer.
- Montgomery missed four games in 2021 with a knee injury and one game last season with an ankle issue.
RB1: First-round rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs impressed reporters with his explosive athletic ability. Mike O’Hara (Lions.com) wrote, “He can cut back at full speed without slowing down, and he caught passes out of the backfield without breaking stride.”
Campbell: Campbell — the Lions’ other first-rounder — worked with both the first and second linebacker units. On a play during the 7-on-7 period, Campbell (6-5, 250) ran stride-for-stride down the sideline with running back Jermar Jefferson (5-10, 212) for around 50 yards.
Profile: Campbell totaled 125 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2022. He won the Dick Butkus Award (nation's top linebacker), the William V. Campbell Award (Academic Heisman), Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Big Ten Linebacker of the Year, and was named a first-team Associated Press All-American.
