Purdy: Garoppolo was replaced by rookie Brock Purdy, who proceeded to complete 25-of-37 passes for 210 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

• Purdy (out of Iowa State) was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.
• The 49ers signed 36-year-old Josh Johnson off the Broncos practice squad to serve as Purdy’s backup.

McCaffrey: Purdy was aided by an incredible performance from Christian McCaffrey, who totaled 146 scrimmage yards (66 rushing, 80 receiving) and 1 touchdown on 27 touches.

Defense: The injury will put even more pressure on San Francisco’s elite defense. Yesterday, the unit limited Miami’s explosive offense to just 17 points. Nick Bosa recorded 3 sacks and forced a fumble.

Standings: The 49ers (8-4) are a game ahead of the Seahawks (7-5) in the NFC West. If the season ended today, they’d host the Giants in the wild-card round.
