2023 NFL Mock Draft Projection

round one

April 26, 2023
Note: This is a projection of what will happen / not necessarily what should happen
Aidan Hutchinson
1.
Bryce Young - QB - Alabama
The decision to select Young has been locked in for a while now. He won over Frank Reich and owner David Tepper during the pre-draft process.

2.
Tyree Wilson - DE - Texas Tech
DeMeco Ryans may opt for a foundational defensive piece at this spot. Note that there's still some buzz about CJ Stroud here.
3.
Will Anderson Jr. - DE/LB - Alabama
If the Cardinals can't trade this pick, expect the selection to be Anderson, Paris Johnson Jr. or  Devon Witherspoon.
4.
CJ Stroud - QB - Ohio State
The Colts will be selecting a quarterback here, it could easily be Will Levis over Stroud.
Derek Stingley
5.
Jalen Carter - DT - Georgia
Carter makes more sense for Seattle than a developmental quarterback.

6.
Devon Witherspoon - CB - Illinois
Witherspoon has been linked to the Lions for months, though Carter could be the pick (if available).
7.
Paris Johnson Jr. - OT - Ohio State
The Raiders will be choosing between Johnson, Peter Skoronski, and Devon Witherspoon (if available).
8.
Bijan Robinson - RB - Texas
The Falcons could take Robinson if they aren't in love with any of the pass rush options (like Lukas Van Ness). Note that Atlanta is willing to move down.
Trent McDuffie
9.
Peter Skoronski - OL - Northwestern
Skoronski is the best remaining offensive linemen, though Jalen Carter and Paris Johnson are potential targets (if available).

10.
Christian Gonzalez - CB - Oregon
Gonzalez has been connected to Philadelphia for a while now. Note that the Eagles are a candidate to trade up for Jalen Carter or Paris Johnson Jr.
11.
Titans - Darnell Wright - OT - Tennessee
The Titans could move up to No. 3 for CJ Stroud (which means the Colts would end up with Levis). If Tennessee stays put, Wright would fill a big need.
12.
Will Levis - QB - Kentucky
Just a random guess here - could easily be Anthony Richardson or Hendon Hooker... or no quarterback at all.
Trent McDuffie
13.
Dalton Kincaid - TE - Utah
Kincaid has been heavily linked to the Packers over the past few weeks. Other possibilities include Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Michael Mayer.

14.
Lukas Van Ness - DE/LB - Iowa
There's some buzz around the Patriots and Van Ness, though the team may be more likely to target a cornerback or offensive tackle.
15.
Broderick Jones - OT - Georgia
The Jets are almost certain to take an offensive tackle. they'd be happy to get Jones here.
16.
Joey Porter Jr. - CB - Penn State
Washington has been connected to Porter throughout the pre-draft process.
Jermaine Johnson
17.
Deonte Banks - CB - Maryland
The Steelers could trade up for an offensive tackle. If they stay put, Banks or Anton Harrison are strong options.

18.
Calijah Kancey - DT - Pittsburgh
This is could be Bijan Robinson, if he falls this this far — if not, Kancey makes sense.
19.
Anthony Richardson - QB - Florida
There's some hype around Tampa and Richardson. This selection could also be used on an offensive or defensive lineman.
20.
Nolan Smith - DE/LB - Georgia
Seattle could trade up for Richardson. If they stay put, Smith would be a nice value at No. 20.
Trevor Penning NFL
21.
Zay Flowers - WR - Boston College
Lots of options for the Chargers here — Flowers, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Michael Mayer, and Jordan Addison.

22.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba - WR - Ohio State
Smith-Njigba could easily go ten picks earlier, but in this projection he falls to receiver-needy Baltimore.
23.
Jordan Addison - WR - USC
The Vikings could move up for a quarterback or take Hendon Hooker here. If they go receiver, Addison makes a lot of sense.
24.
Emmanuel Forbes - CB - Mississippi State
Jacksonville is looking for help at cornerback, right tackle, and defensive tackle. In this scenario, they take Forbes over Anton Harrison and Bryan Bresee.
George Karlaftis
25.
Michael Mayer - TE - Notre Dame
There's a lot of buzz surrounding the Giants and Mayer.

26.
Will McDonald IV - DE - Iowa State
McDonald is a "best player available" pick for the Cowboys. Other options include tight end (potentially via trade up), running back (Jahmyr Gibbs or trade up for Bijan Robinson), and linebacker (Drew Sanders).
27.
Quentin Johnston - WR - TCU
Buffalo is expected to take a receiver and Johnston is probably the top remaining option.
28.
Jahmyr Gibbs - RB - Alabama
Cincinnati is ready for a fresh start at running back, though Calijah Kancey is an option here (if available).
Skyy Moore
29.
Myles Murphy - DE - Clemson
The Saints are almost certain to take a defensive end.

30.
Brian Branch - S - Alabama
Branch will help offset the loss of Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. He'd be a steal this late in the first round.
31.
Anton Harrison - OT - Oklahoma
Harrison fills a big need at offensive tackle. Other possibilities include Mazi Smith, Jalin Hyatt, or Zay Flowers (via trade up).
